Philippine Airlines Airbus A320-214 (RP-C8611) flight PR2043 from Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) to Caticlan Boracay Airport (MPH) on October 4, 2025.
Powered by two CFM International CFM56-5B4/P engines, this flight offered a particularly unique experience, featuring an exceptionally short taxi, a departure from Manila's shorter runway, a spectacular 180-degree turn after takeoff, and an exciting landing at Caticlan's famously short runway.
Departing from Terminal 2 at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport, the aircraft required almost no taxiing before departure. After engine start, we made a 180-degree turn and were already at the runway threshold, ready for takeoff. Remarkably, only 3 minutes and 47 seconds passed between engine start and takeoff — an unusually quick departure experience at a major international airport!
Another highlight was the departure from Manila's shorter Runway 13/31, rather than the airport's much longer primary Runway 06/24. Shortly after liftoff, the aircraft performed a sweeping 180-degree turn toward the south, providing a breathtaking aerial view of Ninoy Aquino International Airport and its surrounding runways and terminals.
The excitement continued as we approached Caticlan (MPH), the gateway to the world-famous Boracay Island. Known for its relatively short runway and challenging operating environment, Caticlan offers one of the most fascinating airport experiences for aviation enthusiasts in the Philippines.
After landing, the aircraft continued toward the end of the runway before performing a 180-degree turnaround to taxi back, making the arrival just as interesting as the departure.
Filmed from the passenger cabin, this video captures the wing movements, airport scenery, and natural sounds of the CFM56 engines, preserving the immersive experience of flying aboard a classic Airbus A320.
Enjoy this unique journey from Manila to Boracay, featuring two fascinating runway experiences in a single flight!
