26th August 2026 - Two short chases in the North Midlands

An upper low to the west of Spain was promoting a plume of warm, humid air to move north-westwards from the Continent. Heavy showers and thunderstorms were expected to develop as a result of heating into the mid 20's Celsius. I headed out when storms started moving just to the north and east of Derby (and my house). I attempted to chase pulse type storms during the afternoon, before tracking a slow moving storm that was sat over Lichfield during the evening.
