Exploring Imam Bara Street | Old Joi De Khwaja, Kandahar

In this new video from LuiLala, we explore Sarak e Naw, one of the well known roads of Kandahar City, which is now commonly known as Sarak e Imam Bara or Imam Bara Road. The journey takes us through this historic part of Kandahar, following the road from the Qala Fasil side towards Karte Haji Abdullah and Kenar Joi Deh Khwaja. Along the way, we show the streets, shops, houses, local people, and everyday life that give this area its unique character. One of the important locations on the route is Imam Bara Square, also known locally as Jabah Dar Square. We look at the history of this area and talk about how it has changed over time. Before the present road and square were built, the old Sayyid Wawaila Mosque stood in this location. We also explore the connection between Sarak e Naw, Joi Deh Khwaja, Imam Bara, and the surrounding neighbourhoods, while showing how this part of Kandahar has developed from an older residential area into one of the city’s active streets. The video also includes two brief interviews, bringing local voices into the vlog and giving viewers additional perspectives on the area, its past, and the changes it has seen over the years. Towards the end of the video, we also visit Kocha e Sayyid Wawaila, one of the old alleys connected to this part of Kandahar. We walk through the alley and take viewers to the end of the street, where the shrine known locally as Sayyid Wawaila is located, giving a closer look at another lesser known historic corner of the city. This video gives viewers a closer look at both the history and present day life of Sarak e Naw and its surrounding neighbourhoods, offering a local perspective on one of Kandahar’s familiar and historic areas.
