Join us in Oughtibridge, Sheffield, for the second video in our local industrial heritage series as we track down what remains of the historic Oughtibridge Forge along the River Don! Originally built as a mill in 1792 and later restored in 1854 as Grayson’s Forge, this substantial water-powered metalworking site played a key role in the Don Valley’s industrial expansion long before steam power took over. In this walk, we explore the riverbank to discover the surviving masonry, crumbling weir systems, water channels, sluice gates, and old stone culverts hidden amongst the trees and modern housing developments. 📍 Locations & Features Explored: River Don weirs, sluice channels, and water feeds Oughtibridge Forge site & old forge gates (Forge Lane) Oughtibridge Park & sports field Historical brick remnants and stone river walls If you love British industrial archaeology, Sheffield history, and hidden walks, please hit the Thumbs Up and Subscribe to follow along with the rest of the series!    / @andrew-karens-travels   Did you remember Oughtibridge Forge when it was still active, or know more about its history?
