Join Andrew on part three of our industrial heritage walk through Oughtibridge, Sheffield, as we follow the River Don through Beeley Wood to discover what remains of the historic Oughtibridge Rolling Mills. Along the way, we explore the surviving weirs, ancient stone walls, sluice channels, and a hidden brick pump house once used to pump water up to the silica quarry and brickworks. We also walk downstream towards Abbey Forge to see how centuries of heavy manufacturing and the power of the River Don shaped this valley. If you enjoyed this heritage walk, please give the video a thumbs up, leave a comment with any local history you might know, and subscribe to the channel for more explorations!    / @andrew-karens-travels   0:00 - Introduction & Setting Off Along the River Don 1:40 - Historic River Walls & Flood Damage 3:15 - The Main Weir & Feeder Culvert for the Rolling Mills 6:45 - Hidden Pump House & Silica Quarry Pipework 8:05 - Remains of the Old Rolling Mill Site 10:35 - Second Downstream Weir & Water Channels 14:50 - Following the Goit Towards Abbey Forge 17:15 - Abbey Forge Weir Site & Final Thoughts #Oughtibridge #SheffieldHistory #IndustrialHeritage #RiverDon #BeeleyWood #SouthYorkshire
