PHILIPPINES VOLCANO ERUPTS! 2,041 EVACUATED as MAYON Goes Back to ALERT LEVEL 3 Mayon Volcano in Albay, Philippines, erupted at 11:53 a.m. on Friday, October 30, sending a grey ash column about 3,000 meters above its crater. The Philippine volcano agency PHIVOLCS put Mayon on Alert Level 3 and calls it a new phase of magmatic eruption, after volcanic quakes jumped from 3 to 14 a day to 101 in one day. Albay's public safety office counted 746 families, 2,041 people, evacuated from the 6 kilometer danger zone. In this video, we ask what changed inside Mayon and what Alert Level 4 would mean, from Friday's six minute eruption and the ash over Albay to the jump in volcanic quakes, the new magmatic phase, the pyroclastic flow danger and the evacuations, the 2018 Level 4 eruption, the lava of January 2026 and the pyroclastic flow and ashfall of May 2026, the lahar warning, and the daily bulletin that decides what comes next. EWN (Extreme Weather Network) covers floods, hurricanes and other extreme weather around the world as it develops, with real footage and verified facts from official sources and trusted news outlets.
