Why God Became Man

Title: Why God Became Man Speaker: Rev. John Vermeer Date: September 27, 2026 Bible: Hebrews 2:5-18 This sermon explores the theological necessity of the Incarnation by examining five specific reasons why God became man in Jesus Christ. The central message emphasizes that Christ's humanity serves to rule over the world, sanctify believers through a sacred brotherhood, destroy the power of death, atone for sin, and provide sympathetic help in temptation. The tone is pastoral and comforting, addressing the fears of the original audience and modern believers alike by asserting that Christ's work addresses both spiritual and physical anxieties. By highlighting that Jesus shares in human flesh and blood, the text argues that He is uniquely qualified to be a merciful and faithful high priest who intercedes for His people. The sermon concludes by encouraging the church to find enduring comfort and confidence in Christ's completed work, rather than relying on worldly assurances or religious rituals. https://www.sermonaudio.com/sermons/9...
