Every summer, the Babool (Gum Arabic) tree bursts into bloom, covering its branches with thousands of bright yellow flowers. For a few brief weeks, these blossoms become a rich source of nectar, attracting some of the smallest and most colourful birds in the neighbourhood. In this episode of Nature Moments, we follow a pair of Purple-rumped Sunbirds and a pair of Purple Sunbirds as they move quietly from flower to flower, feeding on nectar and, in the process, helping pollinate the tree. Their journey also takes us to the vibrant blooms of a nearby Red Orchid, reminding us that every flowering plant plays a role in supporting urban biodiversity. There is no rush, no dramatic event, just the gentle rhythm of birds, blossoms, and a summer morning.
