58 seats changed hands in the 2026 midterms. Republicans flipped 2. Democrats flipped 56. Here is every single one, and the reason it flipped.
Which states flipped blue? In the Senate: North Carolina, Ohio, Maine, Iowa, South Carolina, Texas and Kansas, where Democrats won a Senate race for the first time since 1932. Governors flipped in Texas, Georgia, Nevada, Ohio and Iowa. And 46 House seats changed parties, from swing seats in Pennsylvania to a North Carolina district where Democrats didn't even have a candidate in 2024.
All results are projections or unofficial counts as of Saturday, November 7, 2026 (House list: CBS News tracker, Friday night). Alaska and Mississippi are still counting, and about 25 House races are uncalled.
