Can Democrats end the Electoral College? Not end it, but 18 states and D.C. (222 electoral votes) have signed the National Popular Vote compact, and after the Nov. 3 elections Democrats are projected to control five more states with 61. This video goes through what the compact says, why the Electoral College exists, whether those states will pass it, whether it is constitutional, what could go wrong, and what it would have changed.
The 2016, 2020 and 2024 results under the compact, and the margins needed to flip 2024, are our own counts from official FEC results, at today's electoral votes, whole states only. State results from Nov. 3, 2026 are projections, not certified. Michigan House Republicans' 'flyover state' warning is from their Dec. 13, 2024 release.
