Welcome back to Letters to the Church ASMR. Tonight, we continue our quiet journey through the book of Genesis with Genesis chapters 20 and 21. After the heaviness of Genesis 18 and 19, Scripture shifts back to Abraham and Sarah — and once again, we see how fragile and inconsistent humanity can be. Abraham repeats an old sin, Sarah finally receives the promised son, Hagar and Ishmael are sent into the wilderness, and through every painful and complicated moment, God remains faithful. In Genesis 20, Abraham travels to Gerar and once again tells others that Sarah is his sister. Fear leads him back into an old pattern, but God intervenes, protects Sarah, warns Abimelech in a dream, and preserves the covenant promise. In Genesis 21, the long-awaited promise is finally fulfilled. Sarah gives birth to Isaac, whose name means laughter, and we see that God kept His word at the exact time He promised. But the chapter also carries grief, as Hagar and Ishmael are sent away. Even there, in the wilderness, God hears, God sees, and God provides. This Christian ASMR Bible study is a gentle reminder that God’s promises are not fragile. Our weakness does not cancel His faithfulness. His mercy is not exhausted by our failures. And through it all, Genesis keeps pointing us forward to Jesus Christ — the true promised Son, the One in whom all of God’s promises are fulfilled.
