Star Trek (1966) Cast Then and Now 2026: Who's Still Alive After 60 Years? Star Trek (1966) Cast Then and Now: a look back at what really happened to the original crew of the USS Enterprise sixty years after the show first aired. This video revisits the full cast of the classic 1966 series, from Captain Kirk to the rest of the bridge crew, and traces where each of them ended up in real life, both the ones still with us and the ones we lost along the way. William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, and DeForest Kelley led the main cast as Kirk, Spock, and McCoy, while James Doohan, Nichelle Nichols, George Takei, and Walter Koenig brought Scotty, Uhura, Sulu, and Chekov to life. We also cover lesser-known cast members, including Majel Barrett, Mark Lenard, and Grace Lee Whitney, along with two behind-the-scenes stories rarely told in full elsewhere: Mark Lenard's unusual record across three different alien species, and the real production story behind the historic Kirk-Uhura kiss. This video marks exactly sixty years since Star Trek first aired in September 1966, and it's part of our Cast Then and Now series, where we revisit the stars of classic film and television and look at who they became and what their lives were really like off screen. Every detail here is carefully researched from reliable, named sources, because getting the story right matters more to us than getting there first.
