The Love Boat (1977) Cast Then and Now 2026: Who's Still Alive After 49 Years? The Love Boat cast then and now: this video looks back at the ABC series that premiered on September 24, 1977, and asks who is still alive 49 years later. The series followed the crew of the Pacific Princess and the passengers who sailed with them, ran for nine seasons and 250 episodes, and ended in May 1986. In this cast then and now retrospective, we cover the five principal actors: Gavin MacLeod, Bernie Kopell, Fred Grandy, Ted Lange, and Lauren Tewes. We also cover the supporting players, including Jill Whelan, Ted McGinley, Marion Ross, and Pat Klous, along with guest star Charo and the ship itself. For each person you will find career highlights, what they did after the show, and, where it applies, a respectful note on their passing, drawn from published sources. You will also find a behind-the-scenes section covering the three TV movies that came before the series, the studio sets and the sister ship used on camera, and the 1998 revival, Love Boat: The Next Wave, plus a short In Memoriam segment for the guest stars and the captain we have lost. Our Cast Then and Now series revisits classic television casts with care and accuracy, one show at a time.
