The bucket in your closet says thirty days or 120 servings. But a serving is whatever the company says it is, and on some buckets it's about two tablespoons of peanut butter. So how long would yours really feed you? I check 8 emergency food brands with the same five measures: real calories per day, price per 2,000-calorie day, sodium, the shelf-life claim, and documented recalls or lawsuits. The brands: Mountain House, 4Patriots, Nutrient Survival, ReadyWise (formerly Wise Company), My Patriot Supply (Ready Hour), Valley Food Storage, Augason Farms and Legacy Food Storage. You'll see which "four weeks" works out to about nineteen days, the cheapest calories of all eight (with an asterisk), the federal class action over this exact math and how it settled, and the one brand that prints its cost per 2,000 calories on the page. Plus what to write on the lid of the bucket you already own. Sources: each brand's product pages (prices checked in early October 2026), Dietary Guidelines for Americans, FDA, USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, Miller v. Wise Company (C.D. Cal.). Prices vary by store and sale; each brand was measured on one well-known kit. Rankings reflect the measures stated in the video, not a judgment of any company. This is general information, not medical or financial advice; if you watch your salt, ask your doctor. What's the brand in your closet, and did the days match the math? Tell me in the comments. #emergencyfood #prepping #winterprep
