Whelen 4004 siren malfunction | Columbus, OH | 5/12/25

This siren is located on Sullivant Ave near Atlanta Drive on the far west side of Columbus. I could faintly hear it from inside my residence which is several miles away but did not think much of it. I dismissed it as “that is surely not a siren going off. My brain is just interpreting other sounds as such”. After more than 15 minutes I started to think again though so I opened reddit to the r/Columbus page and there was a post about hearing it with many comments saying “same! What is that?” That’s when I immediately decided to go out and look for this thing. Took me almost a half hour of driving around but I finally located this and hit record as soon I was stopped. By that time someone who I assume is with FCEMHS was already there frantically trying to manually shut it off, and did finally. This is only the last 4 minutes of what lasted over an hour in total
