WARNING: this video contains high contrast and flashy sections.
After so long, I finally got to play the full version of this game called Locus. Released in 1995 by GT Interactive Software Corp. and developed by Zombie LLC, Locus was one of the early virtual reality games out there back in the day, with support for some old headsets.
Locus is a sports game. In it, you drive car-looking vehicle, along with other players in an arena, and score points to eliminate the opponents. Each stage is defined as a triad which plays 3 matches in different arenas, with 3 teams, each team with 2 players in it.
The game is fairly simple. Once all teams reach the arena, orbs will spawn on designated locations. The objective is to carry the orbs with the vehicle's magnet (that can be turned on/off), and drop them into the other team's 'house'. After 3 orbs have been scored for a team, that team exits the arena. The match ends when only one team stands.
Each arena has a different shape and some include small power ups. In this video I did a supercut of all teams playing in their home arena to showcase more or less all the game has to offer on single player.
Locus also supports multiplayer over network to play with other people. I tried to start multiplayer games with myself to see if there were other arenas, but couldn't make it work.
The game in the video corresponds to the MS-DOS version, which is running on DOSBox with standard emulations. The Windows 95 version didn't quite worked with the PCEm box I had from the Ice & Fire series and was too slow.
Enjoy!
