What would it take to live inside a sea wall? In this sci-fi documentary, four workers spend 90 days sealed in Pump Hall 9, 21 metres below the North Sea, until the night the pumps stop.
⚠️ This is a work of fiction. Pump Hall 9, the Northern Barrier, Eskerwold and every person in this story are invented.
The year is 2071. The lowlands are protected by a 300-kilometre sea wall, and deep inside it, small crews keep the water out. They share two bunks between four people, eat at a steel table between giant pumps, and every six hours they count the seawater leaking through the concrete. Then June, a 22-year-old cadet on her first rotation, notices that her count doesn't match the logbook. And when Storm Rhea knocks out the power, that number decides who survives the night.
