Welcome to Day 2 of our North Bengal travel series on The Bong Couple Stories! This day was full of peace, walking, and soulful experiences in the heart of Risheehat village, near Darjeeling. We started the day early with a breathtaking sunrise view from our homestay balcony—a calm, golden start over the hills. Around 10 AM, we even got a glimpse of Kanchenjunga’s twin peaks from a distance—though we couldn't capture it on camera, the sight stayed with us. After a warm cup of tea, we began walking through the lush green tea gardens just beside our homestay. These gardens belong to the owner himself, who warmly showed us around and introduced us to his venture—Moktan Organic Tea. We explored his organic tea shop, tasted freshly sourced tea, and learned about his work. Post that, we had breakfast and set off again to visit: The local Risheehat Primary School A small monastery nearby A charming local tea stall where we relaxed and enjoyed the slow pace of village life. In the afternoon, we returned to the homestay for lunch, took a short rest, and then began our 2km uphill walk to visit: The Risheehat Tea Factory The local high school Walking through winding roads surrounded by hills and silence was meditative. Finally, we ended the day watching a beautiful sunset and a mesmerizing night view of Darjeeling town lights from our balcony. We had an early dinner and went to bed, wrapping up a truly wholesome village day.
