Exercise Rewriting the Self-Image
🌿 Rewriting Your Self-Image
Every action you take, every feeling you experience, and every behavior you repeat comes from one source—your self-image. Who you believe yourself to be shapes what you think is possible.
If you see yourself as shy, you will act shy. If you believe you are unlucky, you will overlook opportunities. If you think you are unworthy, you will unconsciously push love, success, or abundance away.
The truth is—your self-image is not fixed. It was created by the beliefs you formed, often in childhood, from experiences and from the words of others. You may not even realize that some of the ideas you live by are borrowed—not facts, but old protective stories you once needed.
The powerful news is this: because your self-image was learned, it can also be rewritten. You get to choose the picture you hold of yourself. When you begin to see yourself as confident, capable, and worthy, your actions will align with that new image. You’ll notice your behavior shifting naturally, because the mind always works to stay consistent with the identity you accept.
As you practice, remember—you must find yourself acceptable to you. You don’t need to be perfect. You simply need to build an image of yourself that is realistic, satisfying, and deeply supportive of the life you want to live.
When you change your self-image, you change your entire life.
Inviting Curiosity of Self-Awareness
Approach meditation with curiosity, not expectation. Some days, your mind will feel busy. Other days, it may feel spacious. Both are part of the practice.
With each meditation, you are not trying to control the river of thoughts—you are learning to sit on the riverbank, to observe the current as it flows by, and to realize you are not the current itself.
Meditation is not about perfection. It is about practice. Over time, the space between your thoughts becomes wider, and within that space you discover:
A deeper calm
A clearer perspective
An effortless connection to abundance, joy, and possibility
✨ Self-Image Reflection & Rewrite Exercise
Step 1: Identify Your Current Self-Image
Take a few deep breaths, center yourself, and answer honestly:
When I think about myself, what words come to mind? (e.g., “hardworking,” “struggling,” “not enough,” “resilient,” “creative”).
What do I believe I can achieve easily?
What do I believe is hard or “not for me”?
If my subconscious self-image had a voice, what would it say about me?
(Example: “You’re someone who always falls short.” or “You’re strong but unlucky.”)
Write down what comes up without judgment. This is your old identity script.
Step 2: Spot the Limitations
Look at your answers and ask:
Which beliefs or labels hold me back from abundance, success, love, or well-being?
Which ones support me and feel empowering?
Optional-To go deeper during your meditation ask yourself with honesty and curiosity:
Is this belief really true?
Or did I take it on from someone else?
Does this belief support me, or limit me?
Step 3: Rewrite Your Self-Image
Now, imagine the ideal version of yourself — the one who is already living in alignment with your highest values.
Ask yourself:
What qualities does this version of me embody?
How do they speak to themselves?
How do they show up in relationships, health, career, and purpose?
Write a new identity statement beginning with:
“I am…”
Example rewrites:
Old self-image: “I always struggle to stay disciplined.”
New self-image: “I am consistent, focused, and capable of following through with ease.”
Or perhaps working towards it feels true to you . Instead of “I am” add “Everyday in every way I am choosing to be consistent with _________ focused on ___________ and capable of following through with ease.
“Everyday in every way I am consistently using words that are loving and kind , I choose to focus on strengths and capabilities.” Of myself and others.”
As you practice, remember—you must find yourself acceptable to you. You don’t need to be perfect. You simply need to build an image of yourself that is realistic, satisfying, and deeply supportive of the life you want to live.
When you change your self-image, you change your entire life.
Step 4: Anchor the New Identity
Close your eyes, take a deep breath, and repeat your new self-image statement slowly three times.
As you do, place your hand over your heart or press your thumb and forefinger together to create a physical anchor.
Each time you repeat it, imagine living from this new self-image today.
Step 5: Daily Integration
For the next 21 days:
Begin your morning by repeating your new self-image out loud.
At night, visualize yourself living it fully.
Anytime an old belief shows up, pause, breathe, and choose your new self-image instead.
