Chapter 2 – Motion | PMF IAS General Science – Physics In this video, we cover Chapter 2: Motion from PMF IAS General Science – Physics in a structured and exam-oriented manner for UPSC, UPPSC, UPPCS, State PCS and other Civil Services examinations. Motion is one of the fundamental concepts of Physics and provides the foundation for understanding how objects change their position with respect to a reference point and time. This chapter develops the concept step by step, beginning with motion and rest and then moving towards different forms of motion and their mathematical representation. The chapter first introduces the major types of motion. Motion is classified on the basis of the nature of movement, path followed, speed and dimensions. Translational, rotational, periodic, oscillatory, vibratory and random motions are discussed with suitable examples. The chapter also distinguishes rectilinear, curvilinear and circular motion, along with uniform and non-uniform motion.
