Experience this 11.6-km out-and-back trail near Improvement District No. 9, Alberta. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 5 h 20 min to complete. This is a very popular area for hiking, snowshoeing, and running, so you'll likely encounter other people while exploring. The best times to visit this trail are May through October. Dogs are welcome, but must be on a leash. This is an amazing and less-travelled Rocky Mountain hike to the trail to summit Tuff Puff. From the start to the midpoint it is very well-marked, and the views from the ridge are spectacular. There is a steep incline at the beginning, but then the grade becomes a little more moderate for the middle section, and then a steep grade again to the top. After the initial two kilometers, the trail seems to break open and you will be in more of a slow incline through grassy meadows along the cliffside. This area is usually the warmest of the hike due to the lack of tree cover, so it is recommended to bring lots of water and protection from the sun.
