A planet that spins once every 24 hours, and rotates the Sun once every 365 days (on every fourth year, it takes 366). We all live in our little homes with roads and trees, fields of grass, or crops, or animals. Beside seas, rivers, and oceans. With the sky changing above our heads and a Moon that cycles its phases every 28 days. We travel: see new continents, and experience various cultures and languages. It's our life, but what about beyond the sky? Since prehistoric humans, we have observed the skies and what lays beyond them. We tracked the Moon and the bright dots that travelled on their own. We watched the Sun at it rose and set, but it wasn't until 1958 (not even a century ago compared to the 6+ millennia ago we started to observe the sky) did we finally reach beyond. A never-ending darkness that stretches beyond the human imagination, full of atoms and particles that has been quantified and called the "Eddington number". Seas of galaxies where stars swarm blackholes; a whole new life cycle occurring outside of our atmosphere. Can you wonder how beautiful it must be? Would it beat Earth's own seven natural wonders? Astronauts venture into the darkness, travelling by rockets that seem to only exist in childish daydreams until you see one lift off live; watch that count down, the boosters, the flames, and the explosion. "We have lift off." The brave people in those blue suits with their country's flag proud on their shoulder, going somewhere we can only dream of or see in photos from Hubble and James Webb. Still, when they fly beyond our skies, looking for something new, they always turn back. They take a look at our little, blue-green planet and sit - float - in marvel. We think of the photographs and paintings of our blue marble in space. We take her in upon the horizon created by the window of our spaceship. Of Earth with a halo of sun light, cast upon the polar region. Even though space makes our little planet look and feel so small compared to what else is out there, she is so much bigger in our hearts, and the astronauts return. They have travelled somewhere spectacular, literally out of this world, but Earth is home, and there is no greater place than home.
