A Baltic Internet Cable Broke. Why Didn’t Most People Notice?

One physical internet route beneath the Baltic Sea failed on 18 November 2024. Why didn't most people notice? Other network paths could carry traffic, but software could not repair the cable itself. SHOWTAKE follows C-Lion1, the 1,173-kilometer connection between Helsinki and Rostock, and the specialist work needed to restore it. EUROPE OFFLINE? is a question, not a claim that Europe lost internet access. The mapped failure region is approximate. The Calais-to-Baltic ship route is explanatory, not a verified vessel track.
