Witness the vibrant Dhangar Gowli community's historic effort to revive and celebrate their rich tribal culture in Haliyal, Uttara Kannada. ಎರಡು ದಿನಗಳ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ವೈಭವ (Two-Day Cultural Extravaganza): ಎಲ್ಲಿ (Where): ವಿಠ್ಠಲ ರುಕ್ಮಿಣಿ ದೇವಸ್ಥಾನ, ಭಾಗವತಿ ಗೌಳಿವಾಡ, ಹಳಿಯಾಳ, ಉತ್ತರ ಕನ್ನಡ (Uttara Kannada) ಯಾವಾಗ (When): ಸೆಪ್ಟೆಂಬರ್ 27 & 28, 2025 ಆಯೋಜಕರು (Organized by): ಧನಗರ್ ಗೌಳಿ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ರಕ್ಷಣಾ ಸಮಿತಿ, ಭಾಗವತಿ (Dhangar Gowli Samskruti Rakshana Samiti, Bhagavati) & 12 Gowli Villages. ಉತ್ಸವದ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಆಕರ್ಷಣೆಗಳು (Key Highlights of the Festival): Gaja Nrutya (ಗಜ ನೃತ್ಯ): Traditional dance with rhythmic drumming, featuring teams from 12 villages, wearing the symbolic white Pāgot (turban). A unique display of devotion and cultural identity! Pugadi Nrutya (ಪುಗಡಿ ನೃತ್ಯ): Graceful folk dance performed by women teams, singing traditional Janapada songs. ಸಾಂಪ್ರದಾಯಿಕ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆಗಳು (Traditional Competitions): Engaging contests like Kōlaḷu Ūduva (Flute playing), Pāgota Suttu (Turban tying), Ārati Padagaḷu (Aarti songs), Shiḷuk (Pre-meal prayer), and Vēṣabhūṣaṇa (Traditional Costume) competitions. ಪ್ರತಿಭಾ ಪುರಸ್ಕಾರ ಮತ್ತು ಹಿರಿಯರಿಗೆ ಗೌರವ (Talent Award & Honoring Elders): Celebrating academic achievers (PUC/SSLC 80%+ students) and felicitating senior members of the Gaja Nrutya team. The Dhangar Gowli community, with roots in Maharashtra and a history spanning 150-200 years in the forests of Uttara Kannada, is fiercely committed to preserving their unwritten history and traditions. This event is a sincere attempt to pass on their heritage to the Yuva Pīḷige (Youth Generation). "Our aim is to make the next generation aware of our rich culture, customs, and practices."
