This Kabbal Durga is about 75 km from Bangalore, 22 km from Channapatna and 7 km from Sathanur, this hill is 3200 feet above sea level and has 3000 steps, it looks CONE shaped to you. There is a fort on this hill. Why is it built on this hill? It is said that there is only one way to go to this hill and that too is a very difficult way. The KABBALADURGA FORT is said to have been built in the 14th century AD by the Hoysalas, consisting of seven towers. In this fort, one can see here the houses of the guards, the houses of the guards, the pillbox and the 600 feet chasm where the condemned prisoners were pushed. At the top of this hill there is a fort 600 feet long and 300 feet wide and it is said that there was also a palace in the middle of it but now you can see only the ruined ruins here.
