Tip-153; Atypical lipomatous tumor_Well-differentiated liposarcoma

Tip-153; Atypical lipomatous tumor/well-differentiated liposarcoma is the most common tumor of adipose tissue origin, that occurs in middle-aged individuals, with equal male-to-female ratio, and predilection for the extremities including the thigh, in addition to the retroperitoneum, and the spermatic cord. It is characterized by marked variation in the size of the lipocytes, along with hyperchromasia of the nuclei, including some stromal cells. MDM2 gene amplification on chromosome 12q13-15 with or without CDK4, or 1q loss can also be seen. The tumor is associated with an excellent prognosis, especially if in the extremities and is completely excised. In the retroperitoneum, it might undergo dedifferentiation which results in poor prognosis.
