Birds of Edithvale Wetlands - Part I This video is a collection of the birds that inhabit the area, this includes an image, a title with the scientific name and a short video of each individual species of bird that I have photographed and videoed. I have put these together to quickly educate people on our wonderful wetlands that are very close to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and the amazing wildlife that inhabits the last remnants of the great Carrum Carrum Swamp. Australasian Bittern - Botaurus poiciloptilus, Australasian grebe - Tachybaptus novaehollandiae, Australasian Shoveler - Anas rhynchotis, Australian Black Swan - Cygnus atratus, Australian crake - Porzana fluminea, Australian Pelican - Pelecanus conspicillatus, Australian Reed Warbler - Acrocephalus australis, Australian Shelduck - Tadorna tadornoides, Australian Spotless crake - Porzana tabuensis, Baillon's crake - Zapornia pusilla, Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike - Coracina novaehollandiae, Black-shouldered kite - Elanus axillaris, Blue-billed Duck - Oxyura australis, Brown Goshawk - Accipiter fasciatus, Brown Thornbill - Acanthiza pusilla, Buff-banded rail - Gallirallus philippensis, Cattle Egret - Ardea ibis, Chestnut Teal - Anas castanea, Dusky Moorhen - Gallinula tenebrosa, Eastern Great Egret - Ardea modesta. The Edithvale wetlands bird hide is open between the hours of 1pm – 5pm Saturday & Sunday entry is free, just sign in a book to record your visit and maybe a gold coin donation, the only provision is that there needs to be water, as this wetland is ephemeral at times there is no water and without water the bird life is very scarce, then the bird hide will be closed. I feel very fortunate to have such a variety of habitats to view the many birds that live here, I will add more videos over time, hope you enjoy my work as I enjoy putting them together. ******************************************************* All Rights Reserved © Allan Broomhall 2026 Allan Broomhall Photography Subscribe to my channel for more videos I will add more videos of Birds of Edithvale Wetlands when I collect more videos of each subject.
