RELIGION, MONEY & POLITICS: HOGGAANKA XUN EE GARISSA?

RELIGION, MONEY & POLITICS: IS ISLAM BEING USED TO WIN VOTES IN GARISSA? Can religion be used to influence political power? Should religious leaders endorse politicians? And what happens when faith, clan loyalty, money and political ambition collide? On this episode of FAAQID SHOW with FARHAN ALII, we sit down with Sheikh Muktar, a KRA mosque sermonist, for a candid, hard-hitting and thought-provoking conversation about the role of religious leaders in Garissa politics ahead of the 2027 General Elections. We tackle the uncomfortable questions: Are some religious leaders becoming political kingmakers? Can an imam remain independent while receiving support from politicians? Should clerics tell their congregations whom to vote for? Where is the line between religious guidance and political campaigning? And who holds religious leaders accountable when they enter the political arena? We also examine clan politics, political endorsements, money and religious institutions, accountability, women's leadership, and the responsibility of religious leaders to speak truth to power—even when it is uncomfortable. This is about asking difficult questions, examining the relationship between faith and power, and exploring whether religion is strengthening accountability or being drawn into political competition. The big question: Are religious leaders guiding the community—or are politicians using religious influence to win the community's support? Watch the full conversation and join the debate. HAVE YOUR SAY IN THE COMMENTS: Should imams publicly endorse political candidates, or should they remain strictly neutral during elections? Give us your reasons.
