1/5) Hyper Light Drifter with @LucideityZero! What if we were some kind of pixel fever dream?

Broadcasted live on Twitch on August 2, 2026 A good friend of mine had some keys to hand out, and I passed a couple on to my beloved Lucid! Who was then really excited to play Hyper Light Drifter with me! And you know what...I've owned it for years but hadn't gotten around to playing it yet. So far...uh...I would not have continued playing this game without her. The game's nonverbal communication style is absolute anathema to me, and I'm easily frustrated by not being able to tell what these pixels are trying to represent. But with an artist like Lucid at my side, it's so much more enjoyable! And Lucid is always an absolute delight to hang out with, and it's always so nice to talk to her and see through her eyes when I don't know what I'm looking at. We dive into this and it's a good time! Hyper Light Drifter is a well-beloved game for a reason! The combat is exciting and the art is beautiful! It doesn't fully land for me, though, because I struggle to understand what I'm looking at at times when "admire the thing you're looking at" feels like it's meant to be what I'm doing. It has a fascinating nonverbal technique of storytelling and game mechanics explanation that communicates absolutely nothing to my visual-processing-stunted brain. But the action is good, and when I can pick up a beat or two the environmental storytelling does feel masterfully crafted! Check us out on Twitch!
