Baliapal Sub-Registrar Manisha Mishra, a 2024-batch ORS officer, was arrested by Vigilance officials while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹7,000 for land registration. An eight-member Vigilance team caught her red-handed following a complaint. She had joined as Baliapal Sub-Registrar five months ago and is now in judicial custody. Baleswar Vigilance SP Arun Kumar Nayak confirmed the action. Following the incident, Additional Chief Secretary Dr Aravinda Kumar Padhee wrote to employees of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, urging them to maintain transparency, honesty and integrity in public service. Baleswar MP Pratap Sarangi also called for strict punishment for corrupt officials. The report highlights other cases involving women government officials, including Anupama Sahu and Sarita Barik. According to Vigilance data cited in the report, around 17 women officers were arrested for accepting bribes in the past year, raising serious questions about corruption in government offices.
