At 7:02 on a Sunday morning, two young Army privates saw the biggest blip of their lives on a brand-new radar screen. They made the call. The answer was: "Don't worry about it."
Pearl Harbor didn't get one warning on December 7, 1941. It got two. A destroyer fired on a Japanese submarine more than an hour before the attack, and a radar station on Oahu tracked the incoming planes for almost 50 minutes. So why did nobody sound the alarm? This is the true story of the men who saw it coming, the officer who made a reasonable guess that turned out to be wrong, and the gap between seeing and deciding that America is still trying to close today.
