Peng Xiuwen's original works take 'autumn' and 'summer' as the core images: Autumn Song has a quiet and gentle melody, depicting the tranquillity, desolation and poetry of autumn with a delicate melody; Summer Night is lively and brisk, showing the vitality, excitement and romance of summer night. Conductor Zhang's adaptation takes plucked instruments (pipa, zhongruan, daruan, yangqin, liuqin, etc.) as the core, and connects the themes of the two works with the unique granularity and layering of plucked strings. It not only retains the musical core and artistic conception of Peng Xiuwen's original works, but also endows the work with the unique agility and delicacy of plucked strings, perfectly showing the rich expressiveness of the Chinese plucked instrument group.
