NEMACHIZUKI — 寝待月 | Japanese Zen Music for Sleep | Bunraku Backstage, Sleeping Cat, Koto 30 Min

Japanese Sleep Music 30 Min | Koto and shakuhachi ambient, and a black cat asleep among puppets in a lamplit dressing room. For work, study, meditation and deep sleep. 🎋 Waon An – The Traveling Monk The Path of Yugen, No.7: Bunraku Koto, shakuhachi and sho, with only the low breath of a nohkan flute. A bunraku puppet cannot move by itself. Each puppet is worked by three people. One moves the head and the right hand, one the left hand, and one the legs. Long ago a single person worked each puppet; over many years, the art grew into this form. Even the voice is not the puppet's own. A single narrator speaks every part in the story, alone. Late in the Edo period, a man named Uemura Bunrakuken started a troupe in Osaka. It came to be called the Bunraku-za, and the art took its name from it. The monk was shown into the dressing room. In the soft light of a paper lantern, the puppets rested on their stands with their heads bowed, waiting for their turn. Until three pairs of hands touch them, they are only silk and wood. Beside them, a black cat lay curled up, asleep. In this whole room, the monk thought, the cat is the only one that lives by itself. A puppet needs three people to make one life. The cat curls up alone. The moon had not yet risen. On the nineteenth night the moon comes up late, so one lies down and waits for it. In Japanese it is called nemachizuki — the moon awaited lying down. The monk bowed once, to the puppets and to the cat. By the time the moon rose, the puppets would be out on the stage. The cat, he thought, would still be asleep. 🕐 Timestamps 00:00 Three Hands, One Life 18:06 The Lamplit Dressing Room 26:06 Nemachizuki ▶ Chapter VI — The Path of Yūgen 　   • 第六章「幽玄の道」舞台芸能｜旅する僧侶シリーズ｜和風 睡眠用BGM 琴と尺八   ※ The images and music in this work are original creations made with the help of AI.
