On August 21st, 2026, I headed out for an evening walking tour around Victoria’s Inner Harbour, starting near the corner of Oswego Street and Belleville Street. Clouds were beginning to take over the sky and the evening initially felt a little darker, but the sun eventually broke through at times and brightened things up just in time for sunset. I walked past the Hotel Grand Pacific, stopping for a few different views before continuing around the Inner Harbour. Along the way, I passed horse-drawn carriages, classic cars and tourists enjoying the waterfront. It wasn’t quite as busy as some of my recent summer walks, although cruise ships were on their way and I’m sure downtown became much busier later in the evening. The market at Ship Point was fairly quiet, while a pop-up party next door already had a few people hanging out, dancing and having a good time. Someone even turned the camera on me for a change, so I gave them a smile and a thumbs up! I didn’t stick around too long with the music playing and continued my walk. Back near the main intersection, I stopped for a while to film the traffic and crowds crossing the street. I noticed an old classic car slowly approaching and decided to wait for it. By chance, it ended up stopping right in the middle of the intersection until the next light change, giving me a great opportunity to capture it with the evening sun shining behind it. Looking back, I wish I had walked around and filmed a few more angles, but I’m still happy with what I captured. I continued toward the Inner Harbour lookout, where a couple of groups were taking part in the Ghostly Walks tours. Farther along the waterfront, I stopped to film some beautiful flowers with the setting sun and the Coho Ferry docked in the distance. Not long after that, a car club drove past with a variety of vehicles, adding another unexpected moment to the walk. From there, I took my time enjoying more views of the sunset and Inner Harbour before passing the horse carriages and returning to the fountain beside the Hotel Grand Pacific. I eventually made my way back along Belleville Street to where the walk began and continued a short distance down Oswego Street. For anyone visiting Victoria by cruise ship, Oswego Street is also a route worth remembering. Walking from the cruise terminal along Dallas Road and then up Oswego can be a fairly direct way to reach downtown, and you may also be able to catch a bus along the way. It turned out to be a lovely evening around Victoria’s Inner Harbour, especially once the sun began breaking through the clouds. Thanks for watching!
