City Blackout: 21 Days Trapped In A 44-Floor Tower

You live alone on the 31st floor. At 11:52 p.m. an ice storm takes the whole city down, and you are in an elevator between floors 20 and 21 with a stranger. There's no easy exit. By 1 a.m. the building's one night man has a generator running, one working elevator, and an 81-year-old on the 38th floor whose oxygen machine needs power. By sunrise he is gone, the key to every door is on your lanyard, and the fuel log says twenty-four hours. The gauge says six. City Blackout is fiction, inspired by the 1998 and 2013 ice storms. The building, the people and the management company are invented.
