Alex Eala Is Losing Her Top 20 Spot? — The Players Coming for Her 🇵🇭

Alex Eala has dropped from her career-high No. 18 to No. 19 in the WTA rankings, and the players behind her are getting closer. After skipping the China Open in Beijing to play the Asian Games, where she won bronze, Alex watched Elise Mertens jump from 19th to 14th. Then came a first-round loss in Wuhan to qualifier Shi Han. Now French Open finalist Maja Chwalinska is just 90 points behind and only one win away from passing her in the live rankings. In this video: • How Alex dropped from No. 18 to No. 19 • Maja Chwalinska, the player closest to her ranking • What Ann Li and Leylah Fernandez need in Wuhan to push Alex out of the top 20 • Why the Ningbo Open (October 19–25) could change everything • Her remaining 2026 schedule: Ningbo, Tokyo and Hong Kong The good news: Alex has only 34 ranking points to defend until next year, so almost every match she wins from here moves her up.
