12 Kids’ Shows Americans Refuse to Believe Are Canadian

The trolley, the castle, the cardigan: Mr. Rogers first faced a TV camera in Toronto, not Pittsburgh, and he was far from the last American childhood icon with Canadian roots. Nickelodeon’s famous green slime was invented at a TV station in Ottawa, and Arthur’s voices were recorded in Montreal. We count down 12 kids’ shows that aired on American TV but came out of Canadian studios and cities, from a Survivor parody set at a Northern Ontario summer camp to the very first Spider-Man cartoon, voiced by a CBC broadcaster from Toronto. For every entry, we name the city behind it and tell you whether it was made in Canada or made with Canada. 👉 Which one surprised you the most?
