North Sea : Small Boat Fishing : Cruden Bay : North East Scotland : Orkney Coastliner 14

The weather was kind and the tides were suitable for a launch at Cruden Bay. We made an early start, slipping Reel Time into just 6 inches of water. The new roller trailer making life easy - a big advantage of small boat fishing out of little harbours along this coast. We wanted to try drifting Gordon's Fluke Dowsers across the bay for what we hoped might be some larger flatties. We were rewarded with a couple of Dabs but there's certainly potential with this technique. Dabs were the main catch but some very pale coloured Haddock were caught and released. Nice to see the big Brown Crab (Partan) come aboard. Lucky for the crab it was undersize and was returned to grow larger. I tried a Live streaming form the boat today - lets just say that's a work in progress..... signal strength was my problem. Tight lines from us both. PS.
