Radiohead's Kid A: Rock's Reinvention or Rock's Retreat? | RearViews Episode #25

In October 2000, the biggest rock band in the world released an album with no singles, no music videos and almost no guitars. Critics called it whiny old rubbish. It went straight to number one in America anyway, and nine years later it was named the best album of the decade. On this Rearview, I go back to Radiohead's Kid A 26 years later: the OK Computer burnout, the fifteen months that nearly broke the band, every track from Everything in Its Right Place to Motion Picture Soundtrack, the blips and the internet rollout that changed how albums get released, and the critics who hated it then and love it now. Masterpiece, or the most overrated album of the century? Stay to the end for the official Rearview rating. Rearviews only reviews albums that are 20 years or older, to see which ones have truly stood the test of time.
