The Garage Years | 1994 | Part 2 - Mixed by myself Mikee Benjamin. Welcome to the second Garage Years mix from 1994, a very strong year for all kinds of Dance music in the UK. A time when the charts were dominated by all the sub-genres of House music, with US, UK and Euro alike all having tunes making it big. Jungle was still making a huge splash in the clubs and had also spread into Youth culture. Being at school in this era, even kids who weren't into Dance music would use a record bag to carry books etc, and the MA2 style flight jacket was still going strong. I'll never forget my green tartan Desert Storm bag! The Garage scene in the UK was very slowly starting to find it's feet, and UK DJ's such as Dominic Spreadlove, Hermit, Karl Brown, Matt Lamont and Norris Windross were among the very first to start to see a pattern forming... B-sides of commercial House tracks that might have an as-yet unnoticed Grant Nelson remix....a cheeky SDA dub....or an obscure remix that when pitched up a few percent in speed could really liven up a set. 1994 is for me the year when we first saw and heard what the Garage scene in the UK could be.
