In this video, I'll be plane spotting at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, the busiest airport in Alaska and a major destination for international freight traffic. Due to its strategic location between Norht America and Asia, Anchorage serves as an important stopover point for many cargo carriers flying between the two regions. This was my first time plane spotting at Anchorage, during a vacation in Alaska, and the amount of heavy cargo traffic was truly something to see! I also caught a Kalitta Air 747-400F (flight K4551) that was originally bound for Chicago (ORD) but later diverted back to Anchorage after circling above the airport for some time. After landing, an Airport Operations SUV followed the aircraft along the runway. I'm not sure what caused this diversion, and as far as I can tell, no public information has been disclosed about it. If anyone has any insight into what may have happened, I’d greatly appreciate it! If you enjoyed the video, consider subscribing!
