Episode 1369 Stuart Draper (George Innes) refuses to move his car from outside the Rovers, prompting Annie (Doris Speed) to call the police. The RADA group continues to brainstorm ideas for what production they should play. Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) suggests "Hair", Lucille (Jennifer Moss) "Oh! Calcutta!" and Jerry (Graham Haberfield) "The Teahouse of the August Moon" but Ernie (Stephen Hancock) thinks they would be too ambitious as they know little about them. The police order Stuart to move his Alfa Romeo. Stuart and Billy (Kenneth Farrington) end up brawling and they are both taken away by the police. Sergeant Daniels (Bernard Gallagher) calls to see Betty and offer his condolences following Cyril’s (William Moore) death. Betty agrees that some of Cyril’s former police colleagues can act as pallbearers at the funeral. The police let Billy go and he returns to the Rovers, only to find that Annie has taken to her bed. Ena (Violet Carson) and Minnie (Margot Bryant) visit Betty to offer their condolences. After they leave, she talks to Cyril as though he was in the other room. She then sparks concern by turning up at the Rovers and explaining to Bet (Julie Goodyear) that she will miss her shift because she is going out with Cyril. At the next RADA meeting, Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) is annoyed when Ernie immediately volunteers himself to produce the play. Annie confronts Billy about his dealings with Stuart. She breaks down and tells him she is disappointed in him once again. Mr. Porter (James Lynch), Cyril’s former boss, arrives at the corner shop to inform Maggie (Irene Sutcliffe) that Betty has turned up at his home looking for Cyril. Maggie panics as she realises that Betty’s grief has caused her to suffer a breakdown.
