Hurstville is a busy multicultural suburb 16km south of Sydney - how did a former forest become one of southern Sydney's biggest hubs? This documentary traces Hurstville from Bidjigal Country and the 1810 grant to Captain John Townsend, through Gannon's Forest to the opening of Hurstville Station on 15 October 1884. It covers how the railway and Forest Road created a commercial centre, post-war migration, and why the 2021 census recorded 47% Chinese and 16% Nepalese ancestry.
