You think temptation means a slice of chocolate cake at 11 p.m.? The Bible's writers meant something very different. The Hebrew word behind "temptation" is nissah. It doesn't mean a trap. It means a test: putting something under pressure to find out what it's really made of, the way a blacksmith puts metal in the fire to see if it's real gold. In this video we start with the Hebrew word itself. Then we go into the wilderness with the Israelites at Marah, the manna and Massah, look at Abraham and Isaac on Mount Moriah, and walk with Jesus through His forty days in the desert. We look at how He answered all three temptations straight from Deuteronomy. Then we come back to today and look at the "modern Corbans" that are quietly wrecking people's lives: safety, outrage, busyness, and the good things we put on the throne of our hearts. The fire isn't there to burn you up. It's there to burn off what isn't real, so what is real can shine. And you're not alone in it. If this changed how you see that word, hit like, subscribe, and tell me in the comments: what's a test you went through that you didn't understand until later?
