Day 4 of our Dakotas road trip starts in one of America's strangest and most beautiful landscapes: Badlands National Park in South Dakota.
We spent the day taking a scenic drive on the Badlands Loop Road, stopping at overlooks, walking through the unique geological formations, and taking in some of the most surreal scenery of the entire trip. Along the way, we also stopped at the Minuteman Missile National Historic Site and made the obligatory visit to Wall Drug before continuing toward the final stops of our Northern Plains adventure.
The Badlands road trip is just Part 1 of Day 4. In Part 2, we will visit the Mount Rushmore National Memorial and begin the long trip home. Stay tuned!
Thanks for following along with the All-American Travel Blog. If you missed Days 1–3, check out the rest of the Dakotas series for Theodore Roosevelt National Park, Medora, Crazy Horse Memorial, Needles Highway, Custer State Park, and more.
