In every generation there are sexual things that people are not supposed to discuss. Eventually norms change, and those subjects are then considered not only acceptable, but even important. Think homosexuality, birth control, pubic hair, even "dirty words"--in my own lifetime, people have gone to jail for discussing these in public.
