2 hours of Japanese autumn festival music — a great wooden float with a taiko drum on top being hauled up a shrine approach, paper lanterns lit one by one, maple leaves falling through all of it, and the flutes and drums of a village festival that goes on long after dark. Bright, warm and completely un-scary, for working, cooking, studying and anything that needs a good mood. No repeats, no loops, one continuous two-hour set. The rabbit got up on top of the float this morning and nobody has been able to get it down. The frog is hanging off the carved eaves with a paper fan, which is not where he was told to stand, and is having the best day of the year. 🍁 About autumn festivals: every autumn, towns across Japan haul their shrine's floats through the streets to thank the gods for the harvest. Each neighbourhood has its own float, its own drum pattern and its own flute melody, and the festival is usually louder than anything else that happens all year. 🐰Artwork inspired by Chōjū-giga, Japan's 12th-century scrolls of frolicking animals — often called the world's oldest manga. 🎵Original music, made with care for this channel. 🔔 A new Ink & Rain video every day — subscribe here: https://www.youtube.com/@inkandrainze... === Tracklist === 0:00:00 Lanterns Going Up 0:03:38 Ropes on the Float 0:07:30 Maple Leaves on the Steps 0:10:54 The Drum Is Tied On 0:14:44 The Flutes Start 0:17:21 The Float Moves 0:19:48 Hauling Up the Approach 0:22:24 Shoulders Together 0:24:58 The Rabbit Climbs On Top 0:27:00 First Beat From the Roof 0:29:44 Leaves in the Lanterns 0:32:15 The Whole Street Singing 0:34:08 Up Through the Maples 0:37:14 Faster 0:40:31 The Frog Hangs From the Eaves 0:41:33 Waving the Fan 0:43:10 Halfway to the Shrine 0:44:02 Rest, Then Again 0:45:15 Red Leaves Everywhere 0:46:13 The Crowd Pushes In 0:47:15 Louder 0:49:38 Past the Stone Torii 0:51:51 Sky Turning Gold 0:54:08 The First Firework 0:56:40 Sparks Over the Hills 0:59:42 Every Face Looking Up 1:02:25 Another 1:05:34 Smoke Drifting Through the Trees 1:08:26 Back to the Drum 1:10:48 Night Comes Down 1:12:26 Lanterns Lit 1:14:44 Turning at the Top 1:15:54 The Long Way Down 1:17:47 Food Stalls Steaming 1:19:05 Children on Shoulders 1:21:17 The Float Sways 1:23:15 Nobody Is Tired Yet 1:24:15 One More Round 1:26:07 The Band Plays Faster 1:29:14 Flute and Bell 1:31:57 Hand Drums 1:33:23 The Rabbit Has Not Stopped 1:36:12 Clapping in Time 1:38:56 Leaves Falling in the Dark 1:41:03 The Old Men Dancing 1:43:43 Last Loop of the Street 1:46:02 Back at the Shrine 1:48:24 The Last Big Beat 1:50:19 Lanterns Going Out 1:53:28 Leaves on the Empty Steps 1:57:28 Walking Home Under the Maples
