Shetland Sea Kayak Symposium 2026, Muckle Roe, practicing paddling in windy conditions with Coaches Michal Madera and Natalie Maderova. Paddled from Muckle Roe Bridge (north carpark), HU 339 663, to SE side of Lothan Ness at NGR HU 317 672, Conditions were Force 3 to 5, gusting F3 to F5, covering 8.8 km during the session. Otter Ayre, has a complex Devonian igneous geology with medium-grained grey diorite cut by granitic vein networks alongside basic and ultrabasic intrusions, including local variations of troctolite-dolerite and olivine-dolerite.
