A local family took us in on our first night. We sat at their dinner table, heard their stories, and got the soft landing we didn't know we needed. after this long overlanding trip. Then we found ourselves in Hopkins, learning Garifuna drumming and cooking food straight from garden to table with ingredients we'd never touched before. But getting there wasn't smooth. Our van broke down in the middle of nowhere. Coolant everywhere. A temporary vehicle repair in a random town with no mechanic in sight. This is the side of van life nobody posts. Through it all, one place kept pulling us forward — the ATM caves. Sacred. Ancient. So protected that no cameras, no phones, nothing electronic is allowed inside.
