We had no idea what we were walking into.
🌋Climbing Acatenango is one of the most unforgettable things you can do in Guatemala, an overnight volcano hike with front-row seats to Volcán de Fuego erupting every 15 minutes.
But nothing prepared us for what happened at the summit.
This is the story of our Acatenango hike: gathering supplies in Antigua, the brutal climb through changing terrain, reaching base camp above the clouds, and the chaos that unfolded when we pushed further than we probably should have.
It was the hardest physical challenge we've ever taken on, and the most humbling. If you've ever wondered what it's really like to hike one of the most active volcanoes in Central America, this is the uncut version.
No sugar-coating.
